Stuntman – How do you become one and what is the average salary?

Stuntmen are professionals who perform dangerous stunts in movies, television shows, and commercials. They perform these dangerous stunts to create a sense of realism for the audience watching the movie or show, and to make the film more exciting. People who want to become stuntmen must be able to take risks and exercise a great deal of patience when learning new skills.

What stuntmen actually do

Stuntmen are also known as stunt performers, stunt coordinators, or stunt doubles. The main difference between these titles is that a stunt performer is hired by a production company to do a specific stunt, while a stunt coordinator works with an agency to find people for different stunts on different projects. A stunt double is someone who performs all of the stunts for an actor in a film or television show. In order for someone to be hired as a double for an actor, they must look exactly like them so that there is no confusion during filming.

People interested in becoming professional stuntmen must first learn how to do their own stunts before they can be hired by studios or agencies. Some people study martial arts such as karate or tae kwon do which helps them become better fighters when shooting action scenes. Other people practice gymnastics because it helps them develop coordination.

How much money does a stuntman earn?

The average salary for a stuntman is around $50,000 per year. Stuntwomen are paid less than men in their industry, but they still make good money at about $45,000 per year. This number can vary based on the type of work you do and the length of time you’ve been in the business. The more experience you have, the more money you can make and it can accumulate to up to $300,000 per year.

How do you become one?

If you want to become a stuntman, there are many different steps that you will need to take and qualifications that you must meet.

First, you need to be 18 years old or older and have a valid driver’s license with no major violations on it. Second, you will need to complete a physical exam with blood work done by your doctor to make sure that you are healthy enough to perform stunts safely without getting hurt. This can cost anywhere between $200-$600 depending on where you go and how much insurance coverage your health insurance provider offers for physical exams. Insurance can be expensive since you tend to get injured, so keep that in mind! Once these requirements are met and if everything checks out with your doctor, then you can begin training!

To train as a professional stuntman, here are some of the main options available: go through an accredited school that specializes in training for stuntmen, attend private classes, practice your acting and hire an agent who specializes in working with stuntpeople. So do you think that being a professional daredevil who performs dangerous stunts for movies is for you? If you have a high tolerance for risk and are fearless enough to do whatever the director asks we wish you luck in pursuing this career choice!
